Catering
Without food we are without life.
Cook for life is designed to teach individuals the skills needed for healthy living. We focus on feeding families on a budget, health, hygiene, and safety in the home and kitchen in a relaxed and inspiring environment.
Working with the same client group as the other social enterprises under the Grow Organisation’s umbrella, Cook for Life also runs a community cafe on site offering customer service skills with recognised training and qualifications to those attending courses and a delicious variety of food for those visiting.
Since cookery lessons were abolished in schools, at least two generations have little or no knowledge of how to cook and feed their families. It is an invaluable skill and learning to cook a healthy and positive diet is scientifically proven to improve health, lifestyle, and wellbeing.
Cook for life has already proven it can change the lives of those furthest from the job market since opening its doors in November 2009 by taking on people under the FJF scheme. It is aiming to work with a wide client group to include ex offenders, single parents and youth. Cook for life is passionate about food, building confidence, good working practice and encouraging individuals back into the workplace with a healthy mind and body.
